Green Day's 'American Idiot' Debuts on Broadway

That’s right. Spin Magazine reports:

Despite many critics calling American Idiot “revolutionary” for the easy balance it achieves between theater and punk — between Broadway and the alleyway — the musical is also a celebration of a dying format: the album. The show’s success has almost entirely to do with the power of the original ‘American Idiot’, and the uncanny way those nine songs expressed a nationwide malaise.

Interesting new music video for “Islands”, the popular track from the xx’s debut album (album review). Have a look.

From April 4 to April 8, 2010, the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music brought five-time Grammy Award winner Victor Wooten, inarguably among the world’s most well-known bass guitarists, to India for a series of performances and workshops in four cities — Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Sharing the stage with Wooten were Prasanna himself on guitar, Dr S Karthick on ghatam, and Bangalore Amrit playing the kanjira.

Love shoots down Robert Pattinson

New York Magazine reports:

Courtney Love heard the same rumors everyone else did about Robert Pattinson playing Kurt Cobain in the upcoming biopic and, even though they had already been shot down, she offered her own take on the matter in an interview today: “Isn’t that so stupid, who would cast him?” she said, “That’s just wrong, no offense.” Love said that while she “gets” the appeal of Pattinson among the Twihard set, her two picks for the Cobain role are Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy. No word on who she envisions playing herself in the film, though Kristen Stewart probably shouldn’t get her hopes up.

Digitalkids, is the solo project of Jack (drummer for Tripwire). Formed in 2007, it is all about ambient, break beats and dream pop music.

Says Jack, “My music basically reflects love. But it also reflects a lot of other things, mundane things. It’s the type of music which makes you sit back, relax and enjoy yourself when you’re on a trip (pun intended :P). Randomness is beautiful”. Some of his influences are Chicane, The Chemical Brothers, Schiller and The Prodigy

Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain?

Spin Magazine reports:

The web is abuzz today with a tabloid report that Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson will portray the late Nirvana star Kurt Cobain in an upcoming biopic, and that Courtney Love wants Scarlett Johansson to play her — but that’s news to Courtney Love’s manager.
[…]
With regard to the purported casting: “Courtney likes Scarlett Johansson as an actress and as a person, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she wanted her to play her,” Daniel says. “I’m not sure she knows who R Patz is, but he sure is cute.”
The hubbub comes 16 years and a day after Cobain’s body was discovered in his Seattle home.

Snake-shooting eyes, knife throwing, evil kings, and a mean dance of destruction — not to mention Natalie Portman as an Indian princess. Not a bad way to start your day. Or is it?

Downloading’s the same as what I used to do — I used to tape the charts of the songs I liked [off the radio]. I don’t mind it. I hate all these big, silly rock stars who moan — at least they’re f*ckin’ downloading your music, you c*nt, and paying attention, know what I mean? You should f*ckin’ appreciate that — what are you moaning about? You’ve got f*ckin’ five big houses, so shut up.
